Biography

David pursued his postgraduate studies at the Queen’s University of Belfast where he conducted research on post-conflict Northern Ireland and the likelihood of renewed outbreaks of violence. During his studies, he attended summer schools in Tehran and Brussels to discuss international relations as well as regional perspectives on global politics and conflict. Having worked with bicc’s advisory team as a Student Assistant before, he now supports the team in the implementation of a project on SALW Control in Africa as Advisor. His regional focus is on West Africa and bicc’s cooperation with the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Research profile

David is interested in the study of politically motivated violence and different aspects of post-conflict and conflict-affected societies. The link between these topics and the control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), especially of those held by civilians, is of a particular interest to him. In the field of SALW control, David is focusing on regional approaches to improving Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) in an attempt to curb the illicit proliferation of small arms.
