Rodrigo Bolaños Suárez

Biography

Rodrigo is an experienced public policy researcher and data analyst with more than six years experience working at relevant think tanks (Ethos Innovation in Public Policy), internationally recognised organisations (Transparency International, OECD, European Research Centre for Anti-corruption and State-Building), and universities (National Autonomous University of Mexico). He graduated from the Master of Public Policy at the Hertie School in Berlin with a focus on quantitative analysis of policies and data science. His master’s thesis specialised in quantitatively portraying how state capacity in Mexico varies across the country and understanding how violence and internal conflict shape it. He has written policy reports on a myriad of topics with a data-centred focus, from the fight against corruption, natural resource management, health taxes, extractive industries governance, among others. He has participated closely in the estimation of the Corruption Perception Index by TI and ERCAS’ Index of Public Integrity. As well he has analysed OECD’s surveys regarding corruption at the public sector and on household’s information regarding social mobility in Mexico. Beyond research, Rodrigo has supported the coordination and management of international donors' grants for project-developing (USAID, UK’s Prosperity Fund, US’ Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, The Union), had regular talks with stakeholders (members of the Mexican Congress and Executive power public officers), and engaged regularly with the media (newspapers, TV & Radio).
