A preliminary exploration of the linkages between refugees and small arms [BICC Working paper]

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the complex relationship between refugees and arms diffusion. It examines the nature and extent of refugee involvement in small arms diffusion by analysing refugees’ demand for small arms and how their crossborder movements lead to the circulation of arms. The study also examines the sources of small arms available to refugees. This study is embedded in the emerging research focusing on refugees as actors in and not just victims of conflict.
